TRAGEDY: sister slumps to death on news of brothers' murder

Sister slumps to death
on hearing of her
brothers' murder
More catastrophes is befalling the family of Chief Essessien Akpabio as one of the daughters ELIZABETH AKPABIO, master degree holder in English and linguistic heard about the death of her three brothers, she was sick but not unto death, she slumped, became unconscious for two days, later started gasping for air, then oxygen was introduced, she was on oxygen for about three days and finally by 4:10pm on the 6th of April 2012 she gave up the ghost. This is too much for this family to bear. Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio does not have the mind to tell the parents what has happened. How can she say it? Who knows who slumps next? Ma Atim Akpabio who witnessed the boys shot is still not able to talk at length, all she is saying "where is the corpse of Emmanuel my son. I want to see that one first."

DCO, Obot Akara Police Station
narrating to a sister of the
brothers killed, why the corpse
cannot be given to her.

Meanwhile the police in Obot Akara have carried the corpses and hidden or sold out to ritualist .When the corpse of the four Nkari boys were found by the road side on the 27th of March, Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio sent people with an ambulance to recover the corpses. The police at Obot Akara refused the people carrying the corpse. She sent them again the second time, the police of Obot Akara arrested the people, seized the driving license of the Ambulance driver. The police D.C.O told the people that those corpses are TRAP set. The police later released the people by 12 midnight of 27th, meanwhile it rained, and the corpses were still out there. Lady Apostle Helen now sent a Barrister, the police told the Barrister that they have not heard anything from their headquarter, and directed the barrister to meet a local Chief at the village. The Barrister labored and came back without success. Lady Apostle sent all her sisters to the police of Obot Akara, the police ask them to check on one mortuary home. When they went to the home, the owner ran and put a padlock on the mortuary of an ambulance home. The man referred her sisters again to the police. The son of the mortuary attendant told the people that Nkari boys (four) are in there but the father will not risk allowing them see the corpses, “WHY” they asked, the boy said “POLICE”.

DCO, Obot Akara Police Station,
explaining why corpse
cannot be released
Based on this, Helen Ukpabio sent a Barrister to the mortuary man who denied ever seeing such corpses, the Barrister went to the police D.P.O who denied any one ever coming for their corpses. In fact he denied knowing anything about the killing. The D.P.O Mr Esin began to put words in the mouth of the Barrister “WE KILLED NO ONE” he said. The Barrister told him that he was not accusing him and the killers of the boys are not denying, but he turned the Barrister out. When all that failed, Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio went by herself on Wednesday 18th April to ask for the body of her brother EMMANUEL AKPABIO and if possible including other three boys. She met with the D.C.O who denied ever seeing anybody. The Lady Apostle reminded him of how he had arrested those she sent at a time and kept them behind the counter but he was still denying. The Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio told him that she has come to get her brother’s corpse for burial. He said oh no, I have never seen a body or bodies of people killed. He now asked Lady
Apostle Helen Ukpabio who killed them?  Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio told him please don’t toss me around, you have made mespend so much money and time, can I have my brother’s corpse? He told her to hold on, and called the D.P.O who was not at the station. The D.P.O told him to tell Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio to go to the village and find out by herself, and that it is not the duty of the police to do that for her.

A typical Obot Akara setting.
What could be stolen from this village
The Lady Apostle then sent one of her pastors to the same police station. But a lawyer had written to the commissioner of police, copping the D.P.O of Obot Akara on the need to release the corpses for burial. The villagers on seeing Lady Apostle in the local village gathered when they learnt that the boys were her brother and village people. They cried and lamented the brutality done to those boys in their prime. Some village people said there was no robbery, one woman quarreled, what are those boys coming to steal here? How did they come, no vehicle, no gun and no weapons but well-dressed boys. Most villagers whispered that police use to come here and kill people from Uyo like that then the local police station will carry the bodies and sell to ritualist, when Lady Apostle demanded for their names, they said we are just telling you the truth for who you are. If they know us, they will use traditional rulers to deal with us.

I, Henry Akpabio, want the Nigerian Police to release the bodies of those boys from Nkari for burial before another person slumps dead. It is too much for the lady Apostle, too much for my little sister (Ekaette) Grace, even too much for my aged parents. I need the body of my brother released for burial. Now I have four dead bodies, though my parents are yet to know of the fourth one. I am in great pains! I am in agony! I am full of bitterness for a government that should protect but are killing for a fee. Police should be the people’s friends and not foes. SSS should be decent and not corrupt to this extent. May righteous justice prevail.
